Really proud to say I've retained my outdoor Yorkshire title after a hard weekend of shooting. They'd cancelled the NCAS Metric tournament the day before due to dangerously high winds. It was still very gusty today and I struggled to find a decent aiming point. After my first two dozen I was 40 points down on the leader and was worried it was going to slip away.
But after a pep talk from mum n dad, I came out fighting and starting putting in consistent scores and the gap to first gradually grew smaller and smaller.
My shoulder felt really good and my confidence grew as the day went on. At the last distance (30 yards), I only dropped 10 points over the last 24 arrows with ends of 50, 52, 52 and 52. I also managed to get my fifth JMB score out of 5 which was a major achievement in that wind!
It's been another learning curve tho. NEVER GIVE UP! And concentrate only on your own arrows. There's no point worrying about other peoples scores as there is nothing you can do about them - just worry about your own. It's easy to forget that sometimes.
Overall it's been an awesome weekend, shooting with great friends (hi Georgia and Catherine!) and I'm chuffed to bits as always!
