I'd still not had much 60 metre experience over the Summer and because I still have to reverse my sight for that distance, my accuracy suffers. In the individual tournament, I was thrilled to shoot a 547 for the 720, my PB by over 30 points and only 3 points off a selection score. My shots felt so good even though the weather was dreadful. I won my first head-to-head and then came up against the top-ranked U16 girl in the country! I took the first two sets but she managed to peg me back 4-all. I needed a ten on my last arrow to win the match but the wind pushed my bow over at the very last second. I was so happy with my performance though and my 9th place was much higher than I what I thought I'd get.
I paired up with Adam Harris for the mixed team and we won our first two matches before going out to another GB team member pairing. We got 6th overall which was a tremendous result.
I can't believe how good this week has been. Shooting with Katherine and Georgia in a team was just fantastic and they both did awesome. We had a really good team spirit too. I've learnt so much this week as it was the first time I'd shot in a team and we had lots of matches to give us a flavour of international competition. It was all very intense too and the level of shooting was so incredibly high which was why I'm so chuffed with how I've done. Now the Summer season is almost over, it's time to concentrate on building up my strength so I can up my limb poundage and gain better accuracy at the longer distances.
Thank you to Amy Oliver too for supporting me in my matches. So glad you were there! :)
