It's been a lovely Christmas and I was totally surprised and gobsmacked to receive an amazing present from Santa Claus - Amy's old pink W&W Inno Max riser! Well, it's not really old but it's so amazing and beautiful and I love shooting it. Santa Claus says it was possible thanks to my sponsors so I can't thank everyone enough. Mum, Dad, Matthew, Nana and Grandad Symonds, Nana Elaine and Rob, Nana Tinker, Uncle John and Aunty 'Von, The Greenhalgh Family, everyone at the club and of course Amy for the lovely note and letting me have the bow with the bling-bling arrow rest!

Well, it wasn't a total disaster but it could have gone better. I felt really calm and confident going in but my blooming arrow rest broke after the first end. I couldn't believe it! We managed to get another one on but I still had to make up an end shooting on my own. I was so nervous and I've never shot 3 arrows so fast. After that, it took me a few ends to get my sight back in the right place and I really tried to make my score up but it was too late really. 526 was good enough for 11th place and while I am pleased with the placing, I was gutted as I had put so much work into it and really felt like I had a chance. But it was obviously not meant to be for me this year. I can take a lot of positive things out of it though and I never felt like giving in. I was pleased to finish strong with a few three 10 ends as well. I probably learnt more from this happening than if I had won!
On a plus note, my fantastic coach and BFF Charlotte introduced me to a load of top archers including Andrea Gales, Naomi Folkard, Bryony Pitman, Patrick Huston and Duncan Busby. Great end to a slightly disappointing day. Mum, Dad and me shot at the Chantry for the D&DAA indoor champs and had a great time. I must admit, it took me a few ends to get into my stride but was quite happy with a total of 533. I can do better tho. I managed to retain the Junior Girl Recurve trophy, mum came 2nd in the Ladies Recurve and also won the Jack and Jill with dad but best of all, with John Yates' score, we managed to win the team trophy! |
