Pleased with my field rankings from 2017! Finished 3rd in the seniors which is just incredible ☺️ big congrats to my DVAC buds Amy, Chelle, Rob Prince and good old Mark for their rankings too! Looking forward to the outdoor season now ☺️😝
Big thanks to my sponsors Merlin Archery and Backing the Best for their support! #merlinarcherydurham #backingthebest So it wasn't the ranking I'd hoped for. But to say I'm 7th is a great achievement after the year I've had. Despite how bad I was feeling I managed to pull through and make it work, still sitting in the top 10 for my final year as a junior. I'm really pleased, and would like to thank my sponsors Merlin Archery and Backing the Best for their support all year, as well as everyone else (there's so many people lol) for their ongoing and constant support. Obviously now I'm going to work even harder and come back fighting, and like Jinkx Monsoon would say, "it's all just water off a ducks back." 😌
Had such a good day at Beiter 😂 shot with my fellow Strong Independent(ish) woman Sophie and had an absolute blast, it was so funny and had such a good time, as well as shooting great! ☺️ we made it into the top 32 but lost our second match against the people who actually won it, but it was close with the score and I actually had such a laugh with Sophie, you're absolutely awesome 😂☺️ shout out to Sophie who kept me laughing as well as not leaving me on my own when I started dancing to Barbie Girl 😂😂 also a big shout out to my sponsors Merlin Archery and Backing the Best, as well as everyone else who has supported me with coaching and whatnot, feeling very happy with how everything is going ☺️
#merlinarcherydurham #backingthebest #genghiskhan #likewateroffaducksback Good shooting at my last ever junior intercounties! My score wasn't what I wanted and my 60 wasn't great, however I am working on some new things mentally and this was just a bit of a practise, but I managed to pull back my shooting at my last two distances. In the end me, Elizabeth and Holly took the Yorkshire girl recurve team! Was such a good weekend with everyone and had such good target companions, been such a laugh and learnt a lot and have lots to work on ☺️ would like to thank my lovely sponsors Backing the best and Merlin Archery for their constant support! ☺️
#merlinarcherydurham #backingthebest My weekend at Pentref could have been a bit better. My unmarked was actually quite okay, I only had one miss in the entire round and broke my PB, reclaiming that county record and achieving my junior Gand Master Bowmen, so was very happy despite still being points away from 300, but I will get there! Today for the marked wasn't great, my shots weren't flowing and I had some pretty hard targets to face on the first half of the course, but after a couple of lovely pep talks from the amazing Kayleigh I managed to pull back my last 8 targets, shooting some pretty solid shots! Thank you Kayleigh for that by the way! ☺️ This weekend has definitely taught me a lot and I have lots to learn, but it was a great weekend with DVAC as well as fantastic target companions! Would like to give a special shoutout to my dad, who lovingly dropped a boss on me just as we'd finished shooting, knocking his bow and my whole right arm to the floor 😂🙃 and thanks for being a great target companion too, you held me up a lot of the times when I started to slip (literally, he had to hold me up whilst I shot 😂) but you shot so well! Also would just like to thank the lovely Michelle for being there for me this weekend, you've given me endless advice and confidence boosts and reassured me at the worst of times, so thank you so much for everything you're a legend ☺️ overall a decent weekend and lots to learn, but it's all practise, now looking forward to a nap! Would just like to thank my sponsors Merlin Archery and Backing the Best for their lovely support!
#merlinarcherydurham #backingthebest #thanksMARK So my week at European Field Championships has come to an end. I've honestly had the time of my life with the shooting, with the team as well as meeting and shooting with other people. For the past year or so I haven't been in the best of health, I've been quite ill and it's affected me physically and mentally, but despite this I carried on with shooting the season. This trip has honestly been the best week I've ever had, I've met so many new people and learnt so much, and have achieved things I never thought I would do at my first international.
My unmarked round was a PB, and just still under the 300 barrier, but despite having the worst start to a competition, I managed to pull through and shot the best unmarked I've ever shot - claiming my first county record of the week. My marked day was phenomenal. I shot really strong and claimed the county and national record by a few points, also getting a brand new PB, and overall getting me my first score over 600, as well as another PB and county record. This score placed me 6th out of 10 in qualifying. In eliminations I think the heat and the early mornings got to me slightly, which affected a couple of targets. But despite this, I managed to dig deep and get tough and put in two really strong last targets, which placed me 6th out of 8, putting me into the top 8. However in the 1/4 eliminations I didn't shoot as well as I'd hoped and finished 8th. So I'm 8th in Europe for Field basically 😂 I was really upset at first but then I realised, it's my first international and I've got all the time in the world to improve on this. I'm actually so happy yet surprised with my shooting. To say that a couple of months ago I had just had enough and I was very ill, I'm so happy to say that I'm 8th in Europe for Field and have come away with numerous records and PB's. If there's anything I've learnt from the season, the trip and the past year in general, it's that, do more of what makes you happy, and rid of toxic things in your life. The past month has been the best ever for me, and right now I actually couldn't be happier. I just want to thank a lot of people, including my parents, brother, friends and family for being there for me all the way through the year, Amy, Chelle and the rest of the Oliver's and Kiddy's for their loving support and for helping me prepare for this week, my awesome club members for being the best support clan I could ask for, Kath for being a great coach over the past season, my sponsors Merlin Archery and Backing the Best for their generous support, the Hartfield-Kiddy Trust, my team GB mates for cheering me on throughout the week and being there for me, as well as being a real laugh, and also a big shout out to Damien for being my support coach this week, as well as buying me all the ice cream! A big well done to Jason, Patrick, Sophie, Bryony and Caoimhe for making the top 4, and the rest of team GB for shooting awesome! It's been absolutely brilliant week and I actually can't wait for the next trip 😂 now to just relax, eat ice cream, watch some matches and go swimming before flying home to cold, cold England 😭😉😌 #merlinarcherydurham #backingthebest #hartfieldkiddytrust Just found this link to the interview I did for SportsAid!
www.ealingtimes.co.uk/sport/15386576.Archer_Tinker_hails_funding_as_a__huge_confidence_boost_/ Had an awesome weekend at Netherwitton! This was my last field shoot before Slovenia and I absolutely smashed it! My goal was to just focus on my guessing work as well as shooting good shots and getting used to the bow, and well, I did that 😂 yesterday was a real good day as my distance guessing was on point (apart from the little wobble I had half way when I forgot my numbers, and also at the end when the rain came but we won't talk about that 🙃) but apart from that I shot my first two ever 18s in unmarked competition! My guess work was really strong to shoot that as it's something I've never done before, so I'm pleased with that (thanks Chelle and Amy for teaching me muahaha 😉😂) and today for the marked round I started a bit slow, but then I managed to pull it round with plenty of time to go and not only did I come away with a PB, but I also equalled the national record for a marked round, shooting 311! Overall came away with lots of PB's, lots of county records and tied with a national record, brilliant ☺️😂 it's put me in good spirits before I go to Slovenia (TWO WEEKS TODAY OMG), and to top it off I had lovely target companions (sorry Jacob you had to shoot with me 😉😂) and a good laugh with the DVAC members as well as everybody else! Thanks to Kathryn and the other organisers for running a lovely shoot! Great course and great people ☺️
ALSO a big thanks to my lovely sponsors for the support too! The new bow is awesome! #merlinarcherydurham #backingthebest |
